Runpod is seeking a systems-focused Cloud Infrastructure Security Engineer to safeguard its bare-metal and virtualized environments, ensuring the security, multi-tenant isolation, and integrity of its GPU cloud infrastructure. This role is critical for preventing tenant breakouts, securing GPU hardware allocations, and building resilient infrastructure for AI and machine learning workloads. The ideal candidate will operate with an attacker's mindset, identifying and patching vulnerabilities at the lowest levels of the stack, focusing on Linux systems, kernel internals, hypervisors, and containerization.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement workload and network isolation architectures for multitenant GPU environments.
- Harden Linux kernel configurations, container runtimes, and orchestration layers against breakouts and privilege escalation.
- Conduct security assessments and penetration testing targeting hypervisor, network stack, and hardware interfaces.
- Write code (C, Go, or Rust) for custom security controls, telemetry, and OS-level fixes.
- Evaluate and mitigate security considerations specific to GPU architecture, PCIe pass-through, and shared memory.
- Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure security incidents and develop forensic capabilities for container environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or systems-level security engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of Linux kernel internals (cgroups, namespaces, eBPF, SELinux/AppArmor).
- Deep understanding of virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU) and multitenant isolation techniques.
- Strong systems-level programming skills in C, Go, Rust, or Python.
- Familiarity with GPU architecture and hardware-level security.
- Experience securing bare-metal cloud infrastructure and mitigating low-level CVEs.
