Reducto is seeking a Software Engineer for its Platform team to own the infrastructure behind the company's core API. This role involves ensuring document understanding systems are fast, reliable, and cost-efficient at scale. You will work across Python services, queues, model-serving, Kubernetes, observability, and developer tooling to enhance the platform's robustness. This is a high-leverage infrastructure position for someone who has built and operated production systems, prioritizes latency, reliability, and cost, and is adept at using modern LLM coding tools.
Responsibilities
- Scale the core API and document processing pipelines for higher throughput and lower latency.
- Reduce infrastructure and model-serving costs without sacrificing quality or reliability.
- Improve Kubernetes/containerized deployment workflows, observability, alerting, and operational safety.
- Build internal tooling, evals, and debugging workflows to help engineers quickly identify and fix failures.
- Partner with ML/backend engineers to optimize LLM/model-serving paths in production.
- Act as a technical lead for platform/backend projects as the team grows.
Requirements
- 5+ years building, hardening, and scaling production backend/platform systems.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, Kubernetes or similar orchestration, cloud infrastructure, observability, and incident-driven reliability work.
- Strong proficiency in Python, or deep expertise in another backend language with a willingness to work primarily in Python.
- Experience with Terraform/IaC, containerized deployments, and production debugging workflows.
- High fluency with LLM coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar, and their daily application.
- Experience leading projects or small teams, improving engineering quality, and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
