We are seeking an engineer who thrives on understanding complex systems, collaborating with customers, and tackling ambiguous problems. In this role, you will work directly with technical leaders and engineers to identify valuable opportunities and guide them from discovery through implementation and evaluation. Your work will involve building Codex-assisted workflows, modernizing data pipelines, accelerating migrations, or connecting agents to systems for incident investigation. You will combine hands-on software engineering, architecture, and technical leadership to integrate Codex into customer workflows, ensuring successful delivery, measurable improvements, and customer adoption. You will also translate deployment experiences into feedback to inform improvements to Codex.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer engineering engagements from discovery through implementation, evaluation, and handoff, defining clear milestones and success criteria.
- Assess customer environments to identify constraints, readiness, and opportunities for Codex impact.
- Build and validate workflows with customer engineers, developing integrations, tool gateways, and automations.
- Establish baselines, guardrails, and evaluation methods to ensure workflow reliability and usefulness.
- Develop reusable tools, architectures, and deployment patterns from customer engagements.
- Translate recurring challenges into actionable feedback for product, engineering, and research teams.
- Document technical decisions and results for handoff and reuse.
- Recommend workflow expansion, redirection, or termination based on demonstrated value and feasibility.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in software development, deployment engineering, data or infrastructure engineering, technical consulting, or solutions architecture.
- Ability to build, debug, and evaluate production-relevant software and quickly understand unfamiliar systems.
- Experience actively using AI coding tools and adapting them to personal work.
- Technical depth in software engineering, data systems, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise integrations, with a willingness to learn across disciplines.
- Understanding of software testing, release, and operation processes, including reasoning about security, reliability, and access requirements.
- Ability to translate ambiguous customer problems into practical technical plans with credible estimates and measurable criteria.
- Effective communication with technical leaders and engineers, collaboration through uncertainty, and ability to generalize individual work into reusable solutions.
