Monte Carlo is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to develop the core of their agent trust platform. This role involves building backend services, distributed systems, and agentic workflows that enable enterprises to monitor and trust AI in production. You will take ownership of problems from initial concept through prototyping, architecture, development, testing, and deployment, with a primary focus on backend development but also contributing to React frontends when necessary. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI reliability infrastructure in a remote-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate vague problem statements into production-ready solutions, including prototyping, architecture design, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch ownership.
- Develop and operate production-grade backend services and APIs using Python to power the core platform and agentic systems.
- Design and scale distributed systems to ensure reliability, observability, and performance as data and agent volumes increase.
- Implement simple, flexible designs that can evolve with product and company growth, avoiding premature over-engineering.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics, machine learning, and customer-facing features.
- Collaborate with product, ML, and infrastructure teams to deliver customer value, and develop React frontends as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience shipping production backend services.
- Strong proficiency in Python or an equivalent backend language.
- Proven experience designing, running, and debugging APIs and services under load.
- Experience building and scaling distributed architectures, understanding tradeoffs in reliability, consistency, and observability in production.
- Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous problems from concept to deployed product, including prototyping, architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
- Experience with data pipelines or data-heavy systems on AWS and cloud-native services.
- Frontend development experience, ideally with React.
- Experience with agentic or LLM-powered systems is a strong plus.
- Experience with PySpark and ML platforms are a plus.
