Fireworks is seeking a creative, high-agency product engineer to join its new Product-Led Growth (PLG) team as one of its first engineers. This role will focus on building Fireworks' growth platform, encompassing the systems and experiences that guide developers from their initial visit to becoming long-term, expanding customers. The engineer will be instrumental in diagnosing customer problems, ideating solutions, and experimenting to drive growth across various product surfaces including signup, onboarding, documentation, API, playground, model selection, error handling, pricing, billing, and lifecycle messaging for inference, training, and the broader platform. The position offers the opportunity to shape the future of enterprise AI by directly impacting developer acquisition, activation, monetization, and overall platform trust and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Own developer outcomes end-to-end: identify problems, shape solutions, prototype, ship to production, instrument, and learn from results.
- Build foundational growth systems such as event tracking, funnels, an experimentation framework, and lifecycle messaging.
- Design and execute experiments with clear hypotheses, appropriate metrics, and honest readouts, knowing when to ship without testing.
- Engage directly with developers to understand their building process and identify points of failure, translating these insights into working code.
- Create polished, fast, and accessible user experiences for both the marketing site and the product.
- Analyze funnel and cohort data to identify growth opportunities and communicate findings effectively.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, marketing, data, and sales teams to ensure seamless self-serve growth.
- Utilize AI coding tools for rapid development while maintaining high quality standards for all shipped work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping user-facing products, with significant time spent on product or growth surfaces as a senior, staff, or founding engineer.
- Demonstrated track record of improving business metrics with quantifiable results.
- Strong full-stack skills, including TypeScript/React for the front end, backend services (Go is a plus), APIs, data models, and SQL.
- A product engineer mindset focused on defining both problems and solutions.
- A keen eye for design, with attention to interaction details, copy, and user flow.
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, funnel analysis, and product analytics.
- High personal agency, with a history of initiating and driving projects independently.
- A bias toward action, prioritizing shipping quickly and tackling the right problems.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, EE, or equivalent experience.
