As an Applied AI Engineer on the Applied AI team, you will support a dedicated national security mission program. You will act as the customer's trusted technical advisor, collaborating closely with their engineering and mission teams to build and deploy new capabilities powered by Claude. Your role will involve advising on architecture design, developing evaluation frameworks, and guiding the implementation of cutting-edge LLM patterns. You will work with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to guide customers from technical discovery through successful deployment, often on-site in secure environments. This position requires a blend of deep engineering expertise, cyber domain knowledge, and customer-facing skills to help clients leverage Claude's full potential while upholding Anthropic's safety and reliability standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a specialist technical advisor for national security mission programs, coordinating internally to drive customer success from discovery through adoption.
- Support customers in building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise.
- Partner with account executives and Applied AI Architects to translate mission requirements into technical solutions.
- Influence technical architecture decisions and integration by developing customized pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites.
- Develop evaluation frameworks to measure Claude's performance for mission-specific use cases.
- Lead hands-on technical workshops and code reviews with customer engineering teams.
- Identify common design patterns and contribute insights back to Product and Engineering teams.
- Create and deliver technical content, including engineering deep dives and executive briefings.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the latest LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks.
- Work primarily on-site with customer teams in secure government facilities, maintaining internal coordination with Anthropic teams.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Prior experience working within US intelligence community agencies.
- 4+ years of experience in technical roles (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Product Engineer, Software Engineer, Technical Product Manager) with customer-facing experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript and experience building production applications.
- Hands-on expertise in one or more of the following domains: offensive/defensive cyber operations, cryptography/cryptanalysis, intelligence analysis/ISR, mission/weapons systems, CBRN/nonproliferation, or accreditation of classified systems.
- Exceptional communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Low ego and collaborative approach.
