About the job
AgentMail is seeking a Developer Success Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact for developers integrating with AgentMail's AI agent inboxes. This role focuses on independently solving technical challenges, understanding developer goals, and identifying recurring issues. The objective is to not just answer questions, but to understand the root cause, learn from developer experiences, and improve the product and its documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for developers building with AgentMail.
- Debug API requests, webhooks, product issues, and integrations.
- Reproduce issues to determine if they are expected behavior, developer error, documentation gaps, or product bugs.
- Independently resolve the majority of issues without escalating to other engineers.
- Isolate problems and provide high-quality reproductions to the engineering team, or fix issues directly by submitting pull requests.
- Identify and report recurring questions and friction points from support conversations to the team.
- Highlight inconsistencies and confusing aspects of the API, documentation, and overall developer experience.
- Engage in calls with developers when asynchronous debugging is insufficient.
- Compose clear, technically accurate responses that demonstrate a deep understanding of developer challenges.
Requirements
- 2-6 years of experience in technical support, developer experience, solutions engineering, or engineering, preferably with a developer-facing or API-first product.
- Proficiency in reading API documentation, inspecting requests/responses, working with logs, and reproducing technical issues.
- Ability to differentiate between bugs, expected behavior, and incorrect API usage without immediate escalation.
- Capability to write code for issue investigation and implement minor fixes.
- Exceptional written communication skills, characterized by clarity and conciseness.
- Resourcefulness and a proactive approach to investigating unknown answers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in understanding customer frustrations.
- A keen ability to identify patterns and a drive to address underlying problems causing repeated issues.
