About the job
The Link team is building the premier consumer network for next-generation commerce, leveraging over 300 million registered consumers to pioneer the future of Identity, Consumer Finance, and AI-driven transactions. The Consumer Preference team specifically focuses on enhancing the Link experience across web applications and agents, creating a wallet product that empowers consumers with financial insights, rewards, and secure transaction capabilities. As a Staff Full Stack Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of new consumer features, taking ambiguous product opportunities from initial concept through validation and final launch. This hands-on role involves owning large, cross-functional projects, leading engineering teams, and making critical architectural decisions to balance quality with rapid iteration.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive technical strategy for Link Consumer, aligning short-term delivery with a long-term engineering vision.
- Lead ambiguous 0→1 initiatives from problem definition and architecture through implementation and iteration.
- Design, build, and maintain user experiences, backend services, APIs, and systems.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies, creating plans to de-risk the roadmap.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams across Stripe to build alignment and influence roadmaps.
- Champion pragmatic solutions and code patterns, setting standards in React/JavaScript/CSS/GraphQL, Ruby APIs, and LLM-powered systems.
- Ensure UI and backend components are reliable, secure, extensible, and accessible.
- Define operational processes, lead production issue response, and foster a culture of learning and remediation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience, with a track record of owning large, ambiguous systems end-to-end.
- Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of large, complex software projects from definition to launch.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills, including building reliable backend services and user-facing product experiences.
- Experience leading and unblocking engineers on substantial projects as a senior individual contributor.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments, framing problems and making durable technical decisions.
- Excellent cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills.
- Strong engineering judgment around system reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
- A product-minded approach focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for users and the business.
