About the job
As a Staff Product Engineer at Parloa, you will work directly within our most strategic enterprise customers to build the software that powers their AI agents in production. You will be responsible for extending Parloa's platform, AMP, by developing custom integrations and capabilities that meet specific customer needs, especially in complex scenarios where off-the-shelf solutions are insufficient. This role involves both long-term engagements, where you'll deepen integrations and grow use cases within an account, and short-term experiments to test new ideas. You will act as the technical lead, owning the architecture and build, and ensuring production quality, security, and adherence to data handling standards. You will also mentor other engineers, contribute to hiring, and set the standard for AI-assisted work validation.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex engagements and make architectural decisions spanning Parloa's platform and customer systems.
- Build custom integrations and capabilities not covered by the AMP platform, such as systems of record, telephony integrations, state management, and multi-agent orchestration.
- Develop and own production quality, security, evals, observability, and incident response for enterprise-scale traffic.
- Meet stringent data handling standards for regulated customers, including PII, access control, and audit trails.
- Debug live issues, addressing both technical problems and model behavior.
- Drive account growth by identifying and developing new use cases and business units.
- Set delivery standards for other engineers on complex accounts.
- Mentor other Product Engineers and participate in interviewing and hiring.
- Define and validate AI-assisted work before it is deployed to customer production traffic.
- Represent Parloa with senior technical stakeholders, including customer principal engineers and security leaders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, delivering production systems end-to-end.
- Fluent in TypeScript or Python, or able to become proficient quickly.
- 5+ years leading the design and architecture of large-scale production systems in customer-facing or enterprise environments.
- Experience leading agentic, spec-driven development in production, including implementing necessary checks for AI outputs.
- Proven track record in managing long-term enterprise accounts or executing fast-paced experiments with new ideas.
- Experience as a mentor or tech lead, fostering engineer independence.
- Comfort with ambiguity and complex customer organizations, building trust, and managing risks.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills in English.
