Hex is seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead to spearhead the strategy, execution, and growth of our advanced AI context platform. The goal is to continuously improve Hex's intelligence based on user interactions, making the platform better with every use. The context platform is central to this vision, enabling users to understand AI agent interactions with their data, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the context that drives better outcomes. This role involves developing a novel development lifecycle for context, integrating human insight with automated learning and iteration, and addressing complex challenges in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team focused on Hex's context platform.
- Drive technical strategy and review designs.
- Contribute directly with hands-on engineering work.
- Serve as a people manager, setting high standards and empowering engineers.
- Recruit top engineering talent.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams on complex, data-intensive, or AI-driven products and SaaS platforms.
- Exceptional ability to design technical abstractions that accelerate product vision.
- Deep curiosity and strong intuition for state-of-the-art AI agent behavior and context systems.
- Proven track record as a people manager, building and operating product engineering teams.
- Experience with a clear playbook for building high-performing teams, including setting technical standards, hiring/developing talent, and fostering environments for exceptional engineers.
- Deeply technical leader willing to contribute hands-on when needed.
