Figma is seeking PhD interns to join the AI Research team, focusing on the intersection of AI and Design. You will develop innovative AI solutions for design and creative products through fundamental and applied research, contributing to new AI-driven features. The team works on optimizing agentic systems, building robust evaluators, and post-training models, tackling challenging technical problems in AI and creativity. This internship offers the opportunity to publish research in leading AI/ML conferences.
Responsibilities
- Drive fundamental and applied research in Generative AI with Figma product use cases.
- Formulate and implement new modeling approaches to improve current AI models and enable new AI-powered features.
- Explore the boundaries of current technology and experiment with novel ideas.
- Potentially publish research in leading AI/ML conferences.
Requirements
- Currently a 4th or 5th year senior PhD student in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in AI, demonstrated by publications on recent advancements like Large Language Models or Agentic systems.
- Track record of applying machine learning techniques to projects in academia or industry.
- Experience with Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience in solving complex problems and evaluating trade-offs between alternative solutions.
