About the job

Cohere Health is seeking a senior-level automation engineer to enhance release quality, environment reliability, and change safety across their healthcare platform. This role involves partnering with Product, Engineering, Platform, and SRE teams to develop scalable automation, guardrails, and validation systems. The engineer will shape automation strategy, integrate quality into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and define safe change management processes in a regulated, high-impact domain. This position offers significant influence over release safety, platform reliability, and how engineering teams deliver software.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the end-to-end test automation strategy across UI, API, config changes, and critical workflows.
  • Design and maintain scalable E2E automation frameworks for multi-tenant, payer-specific workflows.
  • Build automated validation for deployment guardrails, release readiness, and production change safety.
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Create automated coverage for high-risk paths including authorization flows, partner integrations, file pipelines, feature flags, and config changes.
  • Drive test reliability, reduce test flakiness, and establish actionable failure signals.
  • Define and enforce quality gates for production releases, blue/green and canary deployments, and config changes.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure business outcomes are testable, measurable, and observable.
  • Improve test data management and environment stability to enable reliable automation at scale.
  • Mentor engineers on testability, automation best practices, and quality-first development.
  • Partner with SRE and Security to ensure production readiness, observability, and compliance.
  • Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test creation and expand coverage for high-risk user flows, integrations, and configuration-driven behavior.
  • Use AI to analyze automation failures and production incidents to reduce flaky tests and prioritize new test coverage.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of information security activities.
  • Ensure team competence related to information security.
  • Implement security policies and procedures and report any issues to the Information Security Manager.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in QA Automation, SDET, or test engineering roles supporting production systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience building automation frameworks for UI and API testing from the ground up.
  • Experience setting up repeatable datasets for testing.
  • Experience with regression testing and building test automations from test plans.
  • Deep experience with modern E2E frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, or PyTest using TypeScript.
  • Strong API automation experience with REST-based testing frameworks.
  • Experience validating cloud-native systems on AWS.
  • Comfortable working in microservices and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience testing configuration-driven systems, feature flags, and environment-specific behavior.
  • Strong debugging skills across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers.
  • Proven ability to partner with platform/infra teams on release pipelines and deployment safety.
  • Good knowledge of information practices.
  • Experience with performance and reliability testing (e.g., k6 or similar) is a plus.
  • CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or similar) is a plus.
  • Healthcare or regulated domain experience is a plus.
