About the job
Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. The Beneficial Deployments team ensures AI reaches communities that need it most, partnering with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations to deploy Claude in areas like life sciences. This role focuses on supporting partners in clinical trials and drug repurposing for rare and neglected diseases, where commercial incentives are low. You will advise and embed within partner teams, collaborating with their engineers, scientists, and clinicians to leverage Claude for faster and better treatment development.
Responsibilities
- Design, review, and prioritize clinical trials with partners using Claude, including drafting protocols and flagging risks.
- Build and validate tools to help partners discover new uses for existing medicines in rare diseases using literature, omics, and patient data.
- Develop reusable infrastructure for biomedical data sources and agent skills, and provide feedback to product, engineering, and research teams.
- Assemble evidence for partners to make decisions on drug repurposing and clinical trial next steps.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing, running, or analyzing clinical trials, or finding new uses for existing medicines.
- Comfort with biomedical data, including literature, omics, and real-world patient data, preferably within secure environments.
- Strong engineering skills to take LLM-powered tools from prototype to production and write evaluations.
- Experience working directly with external partners or customers in a technical capacity.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for creating usable documentation and presenting results to clinicians.
- A scrappy mentality, comfortable with ambiguity and taking on multiple roles to achieve partner results.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
