About the job
WPP is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their Strategic Initiatives & Applied Research team, focusing on agentic media buying and other emerging AI opportunities. This role involves working closely with clients, publishers, and internal teams to translate ambiguous problems into deliverable technical outcomes. You will be responsible for building and shipping working systems, including agentic workflows and data pipelines, with a focus on answering commercial questions. The position requires a blend of technical depth, commercial understanding, and problem-solving skills, taking ownership from discovery through implementation and handover.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship working systems quickly, including agentic workflows, data pipelines, interfaces, and integrations, centered on commercial objectives.
- Collaborate directly with external partners, clients, and internal teams to translate ambiguous problems into deliverable technical outcomes.
- Build systems at a production-lite quality, balancing speed with observability, validation, testing, and graceful failure.
- Develop the business case alongside the technical build, considering value, pricing, and scalability.
- Translate successful work into reusable capabilities for Product and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience in software engineering, data science, or a related field with a track record of delivering solutions into real-world use.
- Strong Python programming skills and hands-on cloud experience.
- Demonstrable experience building agentic/LLM systems, including tool and structured calling orchestration, and evaluation.
- Consultancy-style experience gained through consulting, professional services, solutions engineering, or similar roles.
- Strong product and commercial judgment, with the ability to communicate technical and business implications to diverse stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, learning new domains quickly, and balancing speed with operational credibility.
- Willingness to travel internationally several times a year.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of media and advertising technology.
Benefits
- Hybrid work arrangement with teams in the office around four days a week.
- Opportunities for international travel.
