Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving, developing an end-to-end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real-world experience. This role is on the Driving team, which owns the core end-to-end driving model that directly shapes how Wayve's vehicles behave on the road. The team iterates quickly, identifying and resolving issues through data, model, and evaluation changes, and is central to Wayve's Robotaxi launches. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a small team while remaining deeply technical, contributing to the development of embodied intelligence for real vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of up to five engineers in iterating on Robotaxi driving performance, balancing hands-on technical work with people leadership.
- Diagnose and resolve high-impact issues seen on the road by identifying root causes and iterating on data and models.
- Own changes to data recipes, model architecture, evaluation, and release readiness for the driving model.
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve cross-functional issues, including model and vehicle interface problems.
- Contribute as a hands-on developer, writing code and running experiments while setting team priorities.
Requirements
- Previous experience managing engineers and a desire to lead a team while staying deeply technical.
- Highly technical and hands-on, comfortable writing Python and performing model and data iteration.
- Experience delivering deployed, production ML models or productionizing ML and improving live systems.
- Focus on production ML experience, rather than primarily research or early-stage exploration.
- Experience shipping and iterating on ML for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or embodied AI (desirable).
- Experience with end-to-end driving models or large-scale model training (desirable).
