Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving, pioneering an end-to-end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real-world experience. This role is within the AI Validation team, a fast-growing group responsible for proving the safety and effectiveness of the Wayve AI Driver. The team focuses on simulation-led validation across various driving competencies. You will own the validation process for specific driving behaviors, developing metrics, automated tests, and analyzing results to ensure the AI Driver meets product requirements and safety standards. This role offers the opportunity to influence release decisions and contribute to bringing advanced autonomous driving technology to a global market.
Responsibilities
- Own validation for driving behavior competencies from strategy to execution.
- Develop metrics and automated tests linking product requirements to driving performance.
- Conduct simulation-based evaluations, analyze results, and investigate failures.
- Define coverage requirements, test suites, and acceptance criteria with cross-functional teams.
- Report findings clearly to Release and Autonomy Engineering stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data, simulation, and evaluation teams to scale automated validation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with behavior validation in autonomous driving, robotics, or a related domain.
- Understanding of L2+, L3, or L4 validation challenges beyond basic lane-keeping or conventional ADAS.
- Professional proficiency in Python, including implementation of metrics, tests, or evaluation tooling.
- Systems thinking ability to translate ambiguous requirements into practical, automated tests.
- Adaptability to evolving simulation paradigms and strong communication skills.
- Experience with SQL, large datasets, AI tooling, or agentic workflows is helpful.
