About the job
Vanta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their AI and Data Risk team. This role will focus on identifying and leading strategic technical initiatives, developing privacy, AI, and risk management features, and setting technical direction for the engineering team. The engineer will partner with product management and design to accelerate product development and ensure a consistent customer experience. This is a remote-first position with opportunities to shape engineering practices and contribute to a rapidly scaling company.
Responsibilities
- Identify, scope, and lead large technical projects for product evolution and scaling.
- Design, develop, and own new product functionality and/or infrastructure.
- Make tradeoffs considering business priorities, user experience, and technical foundation.
- Set technical direction for multiple teams in privacy and AI governance.
- Help establish and shape engineering practices, including interviewing and onboarding.
- Mentor and lead by example to multiply team impact.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
- Served as a technical lead for large projects (6+ months).
- Defined roadmaps for complex projects spanning multiple teams.
- Set technical direction or built systems impacting beyond the immediate team.
- Built successful SaaS products for startup and enterprise users.
- Previous startup experience or worked in a bias-for-action environment.
- Upleveled teams through mentorship and leadership.
- Experience at rapidly scaling startups and large companies.
