TRM Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their AI team, focusing on enhancing intelligence collection with AI-powered solutions. This role involves working closely with intelligence analysts to understand their needs and build AI products, tooling, and infrastructure that improve efficiency and scale. The ideal candidate will have strong product sense, a desire to stay deeply technical, and the ability to identify and build high-impact, scalable AI solutions rather than narrow automations. You will design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications end-to-end, including back-end services, APIs, data storage, and infrastructure, and develop custom agentic solutions leveraging state-of-the-art models.
Responsibilities
- Embed with intelligence analysts to understand goals, constraints, and workflows, translating them into technical solutions.
- Identify high-leverage opportunities to improve intelligence collection and productize work for adoption.
- Design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications end-to-end.
- Develop custom agentic solutions using state-of-the-art models to augment intelligence workflows.
- Own projects end-to-end, including technical design, architecture, scoping, delivery, and iteration.
- Build reliable and scalable systems for daily analyst use.
- Continuously evaluate impact and iterate based on real outcomes.
Requirements
- 6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience building scalable web applications, services, and APIs.
- Strong product sense and ability to identify and ship scalable solutions.
- Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong back-end and systems engineering skills.
- Experience building backend systems, working with datastores (Postgres/pgvector, Pinecone, Redis), and designing APIs.
- Demonstrated curiosity and hands-on experience with AI tools, agentic IDEs, or AI-enabled workflows.
- High degree of ownership, initiative, and ability to operate independently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs.
