About the job
The Auto Tagger team is responsible for transforming vast amounts of raw, multi-modal vehicle data into a curated library of critical driving scenarios. By identifying long-tail events in driving logs, the team provides essential data to accelerate the development of safe autonomous trucking. Leveraging Pegasus logical layers, this role will structure and catalog findings into an observations database, directly impacting autonomous perception, sensor fusion, and generative simulation testing.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement event-detection algorithms using multi-sensor time-series data, temporal logic, state machines, signal processing, and geometric reasoning.
- Integrate rule-based logic with learned components like classifiers and embeddings, choosing the best approach for each scenario.
- Develop evaluation metrics for taggers, including ground-truth sets, precision/recall analysis, and regression tests.
- Translate ambiguous stakeholder requests into precise, testable scenario definitions mapped to Pegasus layers.
- Own the end-to-end production lifecycle of taggers, including development, deployment on Databricks/Spark, CI with GitHub Actions, and monitoring.
- Optimize taggers for scale and cost efficiency across petabytes of logs, prioritizing vectorized and distributed implementations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 6+ years of experience, OR Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated algorithm design experience with real-world sensor, time-series, or geospatial data in areas like perception, tracking, or applied ML.
- Strong Python skills, including NumPy, pandas, and SciPy, with working proficiency in SQL.
- Experience defining metrics and evaluating algorithm quality against labeled data.
- Hands-on experience with production data systems, including distributed compute (Spark, Ray, or Databricks), a cloud platform (AWS preferred), and CI/CD.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package including bonus and stock options.
- 100% paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees.
- 401K plan with a 6% employer match.
- Flexible schedule and generous paid vacation.
- Company-wide holiday office closures.
- AD+D and Life Insurance.
