About the job

Tenstorrent is seeking engineers to work at the hardware/software boundary, defining how hardware blocks are initialized, coordinated, and used by the runtime. You will determine how workloads are dispatched, scheduled, synchronized, and executed across the accelerator, solving complex performance problems through implementation, bring-up, and debugging. This role involves defining the runtime architecture and implementation that controls execution, scheduling, synchronization, and resource management across Tenstorrent’s custom processor, accelerator, memory, and data-movement IP. You will build low-level runtime components, design runtime interfaces, and analyze bottlenecks across the runtime and hardware/software stack to drive improvements in latency, throughput, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Define the runtime architecture and implementation for execution, scheduling, synchronization, and resource management.
  • Build low-level runtime components for hardware IP initialization, work dispatch, dependency coordination, and resource management.
  • Design runtime interfaces and data-movement paths for efficient memory access, synchronization, and execution.
  • Analyze and improve runtime and hardware/software stack performance, latency, throughput, scalability, and reliability.
  • Influence the runtime stack direction, engage with customers, and translate workload needs into runtime improvements.
  • Perform design, coding, performance analysis, bring-up, and debugging.

Requirements

  • Expert C or C++ engineer with experience in complex, performance-critical systems.
  • Experience working close to hardware in low-level, embedded, bare-metal, or accelerator environments.
  • Ability to translate hardware specifications into reliable software behavior.
  • Strong understanding of runtime fundamentals: command execution, scheduling, synchronization, memory movement, resource management, and parallelism.
  • Skilled in end-to-end debugging and optimization, especially at the hardware/software boundary.
  • Technical leadership and collaboration skills across hardware, firmware, compiler, and systems teams.
  • Mentorship of other engineers.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation package
