T-Mobile is seeking a Sr. Engineer for Commercial AI Forward Deployment to embed with business customers and lead the technical build for AI product deployments. This role is crucial for supporting T-Mobile's commercial AI programs, including Kinetic Edge AI (KEAI) and the broader Physical AI program, by integrating devices like cameras, sensors, drones, and autonomous vehicles. The engineer will build data pipelines, fine-tune models, deploy AI applications over T-Mobile's network and edge, and ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, networking, and AI. Success will be measured by the delivery of working deployments, production stability, and the creation of reusable components.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical build for customer deployments, from scoping to handoff.
- Write and ship production code for device integrations, data pipelines, model fine-tuning, inference services, and ISV integrations.
- Lead technical discovery with customer engineering teams to translate requirements into implementation plans.
- Integrate solutions with T-Mobile's network and edge infrastructure, collaborating with network engineering teams.
- Manage deployment and operations, including testing, observability, and incident triage.
- Package customer-specific work into reusable components and provide feedback on platform gaps.
- Clearly explain technical tradeoffs and escalate risks to stakeholders.
- Mentor other engineers through code review and pairing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- 4-7 years of professional engineering experience in IoT/edge systems, ML pipelines, or cellular network engineering.
- Experience in solutions engineering, deployment engineering, or forward-deployed roles with customer exposure.
- Proven track record of taking pilot systems into production with external customers.
- Production software development experience in Python, plus C++, Go, TypeScript, or Java.
- Experience with containerized and edge deployment (Kubernetes/OpenShift), CI/CD, and observability.
- Experience with data and ML pipelines (ingestion, fusion, fine-tuning, inference).
- Strong customer-facing technical communication skills.
- Proficiency in field troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
