Stripe is seeking an Engineering Manager for its newly formed AI Conversation Platform team. This team is focused on building a comprehensive conversation platform for Stripe merchants, aiming to automate simple tasks and assist users with complex ones. This includes features like customizing landing pages, enabling natural language commands for the Stripe API, and automating issue resolution. The team works end-to-end, from ideation to production deployment, utilizing RAG-based systems with the latest LLMs and fine-tuning their own models.
Responsibilities
- Drive an ambitious vision for AI/ML to benefit users.
- Set the technical and process direction for the team aligned with business goals.
- Brainstorm and coordinate product integrations with partner teams.
- Propose new ideas and build prototypes.
- Be an integral part of the internal and external ML community.
- Hire and develop a world-class team to deliver high-quality ML systems.
- Coach engineers to foster career growth and maintain high standards.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience managing ML teams.
- Experience working as a Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, or equivalent Individual Contributor.
- Proven ability to lead by example in high-growth, high-impact, ambiguous environments.
- Experience building and shipping ML systems.
- High standards for working with production systems.
- Thrive in a collaborative cross-functional environment.
- Experience shipping LLM and RAG systems.
