Scope Labs is seeking an AI Engineer to join their team in New York City. In this role, you will be embedded with startup customers, responsible for designing and shipping the AI systems that power their products. You will work at the intersection of applied ML, systems thinking, and customer partnership, taking ambiguous problems and developing working prototypes rapidly. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of bringing new AI technology to fast-moving teams, operating with autonomy and accountability for outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own the full technical customer lifecycle, ensuring customers derive value from AI systems.
- Identify and champion high-impact AI use cases, collaborating with startup engineering teams to ship integrations.
- Act as the internal voice of the customer, relaying patterns and insights to shape the product roadmap.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building and shipping ML/AI systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications, agents, or AI pipelines.
- Deep familiarity with the modern AI stack, including model APIs, RAG, fine-tuning, evals, and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience in a customer-facing or client-embedded role is a plus.
- High agency with comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Team-first attitude and ability to manage multiple customer engagements.
