Prodigal is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their Data Science and Machine Learning (DSML) team. This role involves owning the full lifecycle of ML systems, from data curation and model selection to fine-tuning, deployment, evaluation, and monitoring. You will work closely with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate real-world problems into well-scoped ML challenges, curate necessary datasets, and train a variety of models including neural networks, transformers, and LLMs. The position requires taking models from development to production, optimizing for performance and scalability, and designing evaluation frameworks to ensure meaningful results.
Responsibilities
- Understand problem domains and translate them into ML problems.
- Source, clean, and structure data for model training and evaluation.
- Build and train models, including classifiers, neural networks, transformers, and LLMs.
- Deploy models to production, optimizing for latency, cost, and reliability.
- Design and implement evaluation frameworks and learning loops.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of hands-on engineering experience with ML or AI systems in production.
- Strong fundamentals in ML/DL with experience training and shipping models.
- Solid Python proficiency, including writing clean code and debugging production issues.
- Some experience with LLMs, such as prompt engineering, API integrations, or building simple pipelines/agents.
- High agency and a first-principles approach to problem-solving.
- Genuine curiosity and comfort operating at the edge of existing knowledge.
