About the job

Photoroom is seeking a Product ML Engineer to join one of its product experience teams. This role focuses on owning the machine learning aspects of short, high-impact projects with clear product outcomes. You will be responsible for the entire ML project lifecycle, from problem framing and approach selection to shipping, measuring, and iterating on features in production. The emphasis is on pragmatic, fast-paced development and delivering customer value, rather than pure research. You will work closely with product teams, leverage shared ML infrastructure, and stay connected to user feedback to drive product improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Embed within a product team to work on focused ML problems tied to customer and business outcomes.
  • Own ML projects end-to-end, including problem framing, approach selection, execution, shipping, and performance monitoring.
  • Decide whether to fine-tune or build models internally versus integrating external models, APIs, or libraries.
  • Prioritize rapid iteration and customer impact, working on projects scoped in weeks.
  • Collaborate with the broader ML team to leverage shared infrastructure and expertise.
  • Gather rapid customer feedback and monitor feature usage to drive iterations.
  • Balance technical depth with pragmatism, knowing when existing solutions are sufficient.
  • Write production code directly within the product team's codebase.
  • Build sound evaluations, monitor performance, and investigate failures of live features.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping ML-powered products.
  • Strong experience with PyTorch or equivalent frameworks like TensorFlow or JAX.
  • Applied science depth, including fine-tuning vision or diffusion models.
  • Ability to design meaningful evaluations and debug training runs.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, prioritizing customer solutions over proving model superiority.
  • Product-mindedness, measuring success through shipped features and user behavior.
  • Comfortable working in production codebases and moving between experimentation and engineering.
  • Strong ownership and ability to drive ambiguous ML problems to production.
  • Enjoyment of short feedback loops and rapid iteration.
  • Curiosity and collaborative spirit, with strong communication and learning abilities.
  • Fluency in English.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Meaningful equity
  • Hybrid working from Paris headquarters
  • Visa sponsorship and relocation support up to €10,000
  • MacBook Pro and full home office setup
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Private healthcare

  • International English-speaking team
  • Language lessons in English and French
