Overview.ai is seeking a Senior Lead Full Stack Python Engineer to lead their Internal Tools team and own the products that enable the global deployment and reliability of thousands of AI cameras. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will transform existing services (data storage, fleet monitoring, training, versioning) into a cohesive platform, define future development, and ship new features. You will be responsible for building both the React/TypeScript interfaces and the Python backend services, while also mentoring a growing team and setting technical direction. A significant part of the role involves working on the frontier of LLM-powered assistants and agent builders integrated with the company's vision system. Approximately half of your time will be spent in customer factories in China for deployment and support, with the remainder focused on product development from the Taipei base, working closely with the R&D team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Internal Tools team, setting roadmap, priorities, and engineering standards.
- Mentor and grow engineers on the team, manage planning and reviews, and participate in hiring.
- Ship code weekly as a hands-on contributor.
- Build and own the fleet deployment platform for deploying, configuring, updating, and monitoring thousands of cameras.
- Scale existing services (OV Vault, OV Fleet, OV Train, OV Hub) into a reliable, modular platform.
- Design and ship LLM-powered tools to simplify fleet monitoring and deployment.
- Develop full-stack web tools, from React/TypeScript frontends to Python backends, APIs, and MCP servers.
- Integrate tools with the edge-AI stack, including camera fleet, inference outputs, recipes, and firmware.
- Prototype quickly, gather user feedback, and iterate on tools from idea to shipped product.
- Deploy and support tools in customer factories in China, including installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure high quality, performance, reliability, and user experience for all tools.
- Own the final design and solution for code, even when using AI agents for development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building full-stack web applications, with a proven track record of shipping products end-to-end at a Senior, Staff, or Lead level.
- Experience leading engineers, formally or as a tech lead, including setting direction, reviewing work, and growing team members.
- Expert-level Python for backend services, APIs, and data/tooling work (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Flask).
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building modern web interfaces.
- Experience designing and running distributed or fleet-scale systems (device management, OTA updates, monitoring, offline deployments).
- Experience building LLM-powered or GenAI product features (LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agent workflows) or a strong aptitude for it.
- Professional experience using AI agent tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) for solution architecture and problem-solving.
- Solid experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and cloud deployment.
- A product mindset with a focus on user needs and the ability to drive tools from concept to launch.
- Fluent English and fluent Mandarin (written and spoken).
- Comfortable with approximately 50% travel to China, including extended stays at customer sites.
