About the job
Nebius is building a full-stack AI cloud platform for the global AI economy, supporting developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Nebius Serverless AI team, focusing on our GPU-native platform for deploying inference endpoints, batch jobs, and AI workloads without infrastructure management. This is a high-ownership role where you will define the technical direction, own the architecture of your contributions, and drive critical design decisions. The work involves end-to-end ownership, from runtime performance to customer-facing APIs, aiming to make our platform the fastest, cheapest, and most reliable for GPU workloads.
Responsibilities
- Design and build core components of the Serverless platform, including the control plane, scheduler, runtime, autoscaler, and customer-facing APIs.
- Address complex engineering challenges such as cold-start latency, GPU scheduling under contention, multi-tenant isolation, fair-share quotas, and edge request routing.
- Define technical direction for owned areas, driving architecture decisions, writing design documents, and aligning the team.
- Elevate the team's engineering standards through code and design reviews.
- Operate the service with an SRE mindset, defining SLOs, building observability, leading incident response, and ensuring continuous platform improvement.
- Engage directly with customers on architecture reviews, performance escalations, and production issues.
- Collaborate with Product, GTM, and infrastructure teams to translate customer needs into a technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping production distributed systems at scale.
- Proficiency in Golang, or the ability to quickly learn it.
- Deep experience operating Kubernetes and container orchestration in production environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, including consistency vs. availability trade-offs, queueing, backpressure, retries, idempotency, and multi-tenancy.
- Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency services.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical problems, drive design discussions, and unblock teammates.
- Ability to write reliable code and troubleshoot intricate issues.
- Teamwork-oriented approach.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation
- Career growth and learning opportunities
- Flexibility and ownership
- Collaborative and innovative culture
- Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects
- International environment and talented teams
