MongoDB is seeking founding members for a new engineering team in Gurugram focused on building integrations between MongoDB and popular AI frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n. This team will own the connective layer, enabling developers to use MongoDB effectively within their chosen AI stacks. The role offers significant ownership, allowing engineers to manage projects from design to release, work with evolving technologies, and contribute to fast-moving open-source ecosystems. Success in this role requires adaptability, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to shipping high-quality software. Collaboration is key, with opportunities to pair program, conduct code reviews, and learn from senior engineers and management.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across AI frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, and Mastra.
- Own well-scoped projects end-to-end, managing scope, schedule, and quality, and communicating progress and trade-offs.
- Solve technical problems with growing independence, leveraging team patterns and seeking guidance when needed.
- Contribute to exploratory work on new frameworks, evaluating feasibility and building initial versions.
- Contribute high-quality code upstream to external repositories, adhering to team practices and maintaining professionalism.
- Improve team engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, version compatibility, and release steps.
- Maintain integrations by monitoring for breaking changes, handling upgrades, and triaging issues.
- Coordinate with adjacent teams like DBX for necessary driver, platform, or product capabilities.
- Collaborate with product management and design to understand user needs for integrations.
- Write clear documentation, provide code reviews, share knowledge, and fulfill commitments.
- Develop specialized knowledge of Python or TypeScript AI builder ecosystems and share insights with the team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building backend systems, libraries, or developer-facing software.
- Solid proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Experience designing, writing, testing, and debugging software in a shared, long-lived codebase.
- Track record of delivering scoped projects reliably and on time.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and commitments.
- Clear interest in modern AI builder workflows, AI frameworks, agentic patterns, RAG, retrieval, embedding, or vector search.
- Solid verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Enjoys collaboration, is approachable, curious, and intellectually honest.
- Eager to learn with a strong technical foundation.
