We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our AI Interfaces team within AI Builder Experience (ABX). In this role, you will provide technical direction, shape architecture, and build core products that enable seamless interaction between developers, AI agents, and MongoDB. You will be at the forefront of building technologies that allow AI applications and agentic workflows to work effectively with MongoDB at scale. This is an opportunity to integrate with new technologies, make pragmatic decisions in ambiguous situations, and own high-visibility projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. We are looking for product-minded engineers who are autonomous and take pride in delivering high-quality software.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve AI interfaces in collaboration with research, product management, and engineering teams.
- Design, build, and deliver core platform components, including the MongoDB MCP Server, Agent Skills, and the Intelligent Assistant Platform.
- Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to completion independently.
- Contribute to shaping the team's architecture, code reviews, and development practices.
- Mentor fellow engineers and assume ownership of projects.
Requirements
- Strong background in building core components for scalable, high-availability web applications and services.
- 3+ years of experience building backend systems, primarily in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Proven track record of identifying problems, implementing solutions, and working on complex projects.
- Product-minded approach to engineering with the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs and operate amid ambiguity.
- Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn with a strong technical background.
