MongoDB is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join a new engineering team in Gurugram focused on building integrations between MongoDB and popular AI frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n. This team will own the connective layer, enabling developers to use MongoDB effectively within their chosen AI stacks. The role involves working primarily in Python and TypeScript, contributing to fast-moving open-source ecosystems, and collaborating with internal teams and external maintainers. The team operates with a high degree of autonomy, owning integrations end-to-end from design and development to testing, release, and maintenance. This is an opportunity to be a founding member of a self-sufficient team, shaping its practices and contributing to high-visibility projects in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across AI frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, and Mastra.
- Own integrations from initial exploration through production release and ongoing maintenance.
- Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to completion independently.
- Perform exploratory work to assess new frameworks and define integration strategies.
- Contribute high-quality code to upstream open-source repositories.
- Build and maintain team engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and release readiness.
- Own the operational health of built integrations, including monitoring and issue triage.
- Partner with internal teams to define necessary driver, platform, and product capabilities.
- Collaborate with product management, design, partners, and maintainers to define integration evolution.
- Shape team architecture and development practices, provide code reviews, and mentor peers.
- Stay current with AI ecosystems and bring learnings back to the team's roadmap.
- Identify emerging opportunities in the AI ecosystem and propose where MongoDB should integrate.
- Clearly flag issues, risks, and resource needs to the team and cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- Strong background in building core components for scalable, high-availability services, developer platforms, or libraries.
- 7+ years of experience building backend systems or developer-facing libraries.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Proven success in designing, writing, testing, debugging, and performance tuning software in large codebases.
- Track record of identifying problems, implementing solutions, and delivering complex projects independently.
- Product-minded approach to engineering with the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs.
- Comfort operating amid ambiguity and rapidly evolving technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to context switch across projects while maintaining prioritization and quality.
- Strong interest in modern AI builder workflows, AI frameworks, agentic patterns, RAG, retrieval, embedding, or vector search.
- Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Enjoys collaboration and being part of a close-knit team.
