MongoDB is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Architecture team, focusing on AI experimentation. This role involves partnering with various internal teams to explore, prototype, and validate emerging AI capabilities before they are integrated into formal roadmaps. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in ambiguity, independently solving complex engineering problems, and iterating quickly on ideas, especially when requirements are unclear. This position is based in Gurugram and follows a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to test emerging AI capabilities against internal use cases.
- Condense and document experiment learnings for organizational knowledge sharing.
- Build lightweight prototypes to rapidly validate or discard ideas.
- Stay current with new AI tooling and models, translating relevant developments into internal proof points.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and internal engineering teams to transition validated capabilities to production.
- Maintain technical rigor and clear documentation of findings, even for work that does not ship.
- Identify and communicate risks, unknowns, and open questions to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Deep experience with at least one modern programming language (Python, Typescript, Go, Rust).
- Strong technical judgment and ability to independently solve complex engineering problems.
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and scoping/running experiments with unclear approaches.
- Hands-on experience prototyping with LLMs or agentic systems (evals, fine-tuning, RAG, tool use, orchestration frameworks).
- Ability to iterate quickly, especially when requirements are unclear.
- Keeps up with emerging AI tooling and models beyond mainstream offerings.
