About the job

This position is located in St. Valentin, Austria, and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. You will be responsible for developing next-generation Machine Learning and AI applications to enhance, automate, and accelerate geometric engineering workflows. The primary focus involves researching and applying state-of-the-art AI techniques for geometry understanding to improve CAD-based engineering processes. This includes investigating LLM-assisted geometry reasoning, knowledge graphs, and multimodal approaches that integrate text, geometry, and simulation data, along with geometry embeddings and deep learning methods for meshes and graphs. These methods aim to transform CAD geometry into structured representations for tasks like automated design checks, manufacturability reasoning, variant comparison, tolerance analysis, intelligent parameter recommendations, and automated documentation. You will collaborate with internal customers, R&D teams, CAD experts, and external research partners to translate engineering needs into AI solution concepts, prototyping, validation, and refinement for integration into existing engineering workflows. Additionally, you will support R&D engineers and researchers by evaluating relevant technologies from various perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate emerging AI, CAD, and engineering technologies against scientific principles, company standards, customer requirements, technical feasibility, manufacturability, and business value.
  • Research and develop AI-enabled geometric engineering solutions from concept through integration into productive engineering workflows.
  • Translate CAD geometry and related engineering data into structured representations for AI agents and downstream engineering applications.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in product-development and manufacturing processes, and convert customer needs into AI system requirements and R&D priorities.
  • Analyze engineering and AI results, recommend improvements, and validate AI-generated outcomes against CAD data, simulation results, or engineering methods.
  • Design and implement agent behaviors, reasoning pipelines, CAD-aware tool interactions, and software prototypes using appropriate technologies.
  • Manage innovation projects by planning, monitoring progress, coordinating activities, resolving issues, maintaining documentation, and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Define technical requirements and coordinate work packages with suppliers, external partners, and research institutions.

Requirements

  • 5 years or more of experience, including Ph.D. research, or SW & ML/GenAI/AI related industry experience.
  • Master's or higher degree in Engineering (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science).
  • Automotive OEM or Tier-1 experience is preferred.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills.
  • Solid foundation in machine learning principles, algorithms, and practical applications.
  • Proficient in Python programming and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning and AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX.
  • Proficient with development tools including Git version control, Linux terminal, and Bash scripting.
  • Solid understanding of geometry representations (parametric, mesh, BREP).
  • Experience in CAD Design (CATIA, NX, etc.), writing Macros and CAD APIs.
  • Experience in 3D Geometry Tools (Blender, Mesher, etc.).

Benefits

  • Long-term perspectives in an international company
  • Attractive conditions for further training measures
  • Profit sharing in the company's success
  • Home office options and flexible working hours
