The Human Frontier Collective (HFC) Fellowship is a six-month, fully remote, independent contractor opportunity designed to bring together top researchers and domain experts to collaborate on high-impact AI projects. Fellows will apply their expertise to design, evaluate, and interpret advanced generative AI systems, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research and working with an interdisciplinary network of leading thinkers. This role offers a flexible schedule, allowing fellows to set their own hours (10-40 hours per week), and provides opportunities for professional development through review projects, advisory roles, and research, contributing to academic visibility and professional recognition.
Responsibilities
- Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models to help AI models understand real-world deep learning workflows.
- Evaluate complex ML code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness.
- Advise on GPU optimization, scaling, and trade-offs for AI systems.
- Collaborate with the research team to co-author technical reports and research papers.
Requirements
- PhD or postdoctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Detail-oriented, innovative thinker with a passion for applied AI research and a commitment to collaboration.
