Lila Sciences is developing the infrastructure for autonomous science, creating AI systems that can design and execute experiments in physical labs across life sciences, chemistry, and materials science. Their platform is designed for reliability and scale, catering to external customers who demand security, auditability, and operational rigor. This role focuses on building foundational enterprise systems to support large pharmaceutical and research organizations, enhancing capabilities like multi-tenancy, identity management, granular permissions, audit infrastructure, and billing. The position involves pushing the boundaries with agentic AI-powered systems for self-service tenant management, intelligent customer observability, and automated compliance workflows, alongside developing an AI-native external API.
Responsibilities
- Drive core enterprise capabilities to production, including multi-tenancy, tenant isolation, enterprise identity and permissions, metering, and billing infrastructure.
- Build agentic AI-powered systems for self-service tenant management, intelligent customer observability, and automated compliance workflows.
- Develop an AI-native external API for programmatic interaction with Lila's platform.
- Design and evolve core identity systems for the enterprise platform, covering organizations, groups, roles, SCIM provisioning, and seat lifecycle management.
- Define tenant isolation, policy evaluation, and access governance across the platform.
- Design tenant-aware schemas, metadata systems, and platform primitives for heterogeneous scientific data.
- Architect systems for tenant provisioning, usage metering, billing, data migrations, and compliance workflows.
- Push towards self-service and agentic operational workflows.
- Operate as a senior technical leader across platform engineering, infrastructure, security, AI/ML, and scientific application teams.
- Define and build correct, secure, and scalable platform infrastructure.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience, with a focus on Enterprise SaaS product development.
- Deep expertise in enterprise SaaS platform systems: authentication/authorization (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML), multi-tenancy, RBAC, billing/metering, configurations, SDK, and APIs.
- Experience with modern cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS/GCP) and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and containerized deployments.
- Track record of building enterprise platforms in high-growth environments.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to influence architecture.
- Hands-on coding in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI, async Python).
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
