Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Lead AI Finance Technology Engineer to be the first dedicated AI engineer within the Finance Technology (G&A FinTech) team. This role will reimagine how Finance teams operate in an AI-first world by shaping the architecture, standards, and long-term vision. You will partner across all Finance functions and adjacent technology teams to ensure the back-office stack is reliable, well-integrated, compliant, and ready for a public, AI-forward SaaS business. This position is crucial for defining how AI becomes embedded into Finance at Klaviyo, moving beyond incremental automation to AI-native solutions.
Responsibilities
- Reimagine core Finance workflows through an AI-first lens.
- Design and build AI-powered workflows, copilots, and agents to automate and augment Finance processes.
- Architect and implement systems integrating across SaaS platforms like NetSuite, Zip, and Zone Advanced Billing.
- Partner with the internal IT AI team to establish best practices for prompt engineering, LLM system design, and AI system observability.
- Enable AI use cases that drive faster execution and better decision-making for Finance teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable AI solutions.
- Identify high-leverage opportunities to replace manual workflows with AI-native solutions.
- Define and track success metrics for AI initiatives.
- Act as a thought partner to Finance leadership on AI possibilities.
- Design systems that handle sensitive financial data with security, privacy, and trust at the core.
- Ensure compliant and ethical AI deployment in partnership with relevant teams.
- Work closely with Security, Global IT, and G&A Systems to align on shared AI infrastructure and standards.
- Contribute to and adopt company-wide AI patterns, tooling, and best practices.
- Enable Finance teams to leverage AI by building reusable frameworks, workflows, playbooks, and training materials.
- Advocate for scalable, well-governed AI systems that integrate cleanly into Klaviyo’s tech ecosystem.
- Shape how Klaviyo becomes AI-first internally, starting with Finance systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of engineering or data engineering experience.
- Minimum 2+ years building AI/ML or LLM-powered solutions delivering tangible business outcomes.
- Proven ability to set technical direction and build 0→1 systems with meaningful organizational impact.
- Strong experience with React, JSON, Python, SQL, and modern APIs.
- Experience with LLM platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini).
- Experience designing AI-powered workflows, agents, or copilots.
- Experience integrating to Finance Systems through Runlayer and MCPs.
- Experience integrating with enterprise Financial SaaS systems.
- Experience designing scalable and secure systems, automation frameworks, and internal tools.
- Experience working with sensitive data and implementing responsible AI practices.
- Strong ability to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions.
