We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer III to join our agile team within the Commercial & Investment Bank. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. You will be responsible for implementing critical technology solutions across various technical areas and business functions to support the firm's objectives. This position involves leveraging modern full-stack development practices with Java, Spring Boot, and React, alongside cloud-native solutions on AWS. A key aspect of the role includes engaging with Generative AI technologies, including prompt engineering for LLMs and utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality, while ensuring responsible and validated AI usage.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and ship new features.
- Implement cloud-native solutions on AWS, focusing on high availability, scalability, and security.
- Engage in prompt engineering for LLMs and write Python scripts.
- Utilize AI tech tools like GitHub Copilot and MCP servers to improve productivity and code quality.
- Demonstrate leadership in the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, setting team expectations for validating AI outputs.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack.
- Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
- Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development capabilities, to improve value realized by automation.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience.
- Proven experience in software development using Core Java, REST, Spring Boot, Spring modules, Hibernate, Junit, and Mockito.
- Experience with UI technologies like jQuery, HTML, and React, with strong design principles and debugging skills.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, specifically AWS, and experience deploying applications in a cloud environment.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Git, and messaging frameworks like Kafka.
- Experience writing SQL queries, database management concepts, JDBC, and persistence frameworks like Spring JPA.
- Experience in AI/ML with a focus on Generative AI, AI Agents Frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph), Python, LLMs, RAG, and Prompt Engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently to meet deadlines.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
