About the job
As a Software Engineer III within JPMorganChase's Commercial and Investment Bank, Payments Technology, you will be a key member of an agile team focused on enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products securely and at scale. Based in London, you will contribute to building B2B agentic commerce agents designed to negotiate, onboard, and communicate with corporate suppliers. This role also involves developing the data and machine learning pipelines that power the models these agents utilize as tools, all within the firm's governed agent platform, NEO.
Responsibilities
- Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting for agent components, including orchestration logic, agent tools, and task queues for autonomous workflows.
- Build and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for secure agent access to CRM, supplier directory, and payments data.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code in Python and review/debug code written by others.
- Build data pipelines and feature engineering jobs on Databricks for payments data preparation for model training and agent retrieval.
- Contribute to the MLOps path for optimization and prediction models, including training jobs, automated tests, and model artifact promotion.
- Write evaluations for agent behavior (offline test sets, CI/CD regression suites, LLM-as-judge checks) and instrument services with OpenTelemetry tracing.
- Apply enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools to enhance code quality and delivery speed, validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of agents and model services.
- Contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Strong development experience in Python and/or Java, with ability to code in additional languages like TypeScript or SQL.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, parallelism (multithreading, processes, worker pools, task queues), and distributed computation.
- Experience building and consuming APIs and event-driven services in a cloud environment.
- Experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and working with large structured datasets.
- Working knowledge of building LLM-based applications, including prompting, tool calling, retrieval, and evaluation.
- Experience using approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- Practical cloud-native experience (AWS preferred), including containers and Kubernetes.
