As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within the Chief Technology Office - Risk, Control & Regulatory team, you will be an integral part of an agile team focused on enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products securely and at scale. You will leverage deep technical expertise to solve complex challenges across multiple technologies, driving significant business impact. Your work will involve developing Python-based software that integrates data pipelines, authenticated internal system integrations, and generative AI/LLM-based agent capabilities on a Python and PostgreSQL platform. You will contribute production code, elevate engineering quality, and ensure solutions are reliable, observable, and compliant with firm expectations for security, data sensitivity, and responsible AI use.
Responsibilities
- Drive adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of proven patterns.
- Build and maintain full-stack Python toolkits and data products for agentic risk-oversight workflows.
- Implement LLM-based services including RAG, tool/function calling, agent orchestration, prompt management, and evaluation/guardrails.
- Develop authenticated integrations and APIs to internal systems (REST and streaming/WebSocket) with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
- Work on data pipelines to stream, normalize, and join large datasets across sources using performant SQL.
- Write secure, high-quality production code and comprehensive tests, actively participating in code reviews.
- Build observability into services and troubleshoot production issues, automating remediation for recurring operational problems.
- Implement safe-by-default patterns for AI features, including bounded tool use, validation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Generate audience-ready outputs, such as interactive HTML dashboards and structured evidence packages.
- Collaborate with product teams to refine requirements, break down work, and deliver iteratively.
- Use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate delivery while validating outputs.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and setting team expectations for validating AI outputs.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
- Strong hands-on system design and application development skills with demonstrated production ownership.
- Advanced Python proficiency (3.10+), including idiomatic use of dataclasses, type hints, generators, and CLI frameworks.
- Strong SQL and data-modeling skills for performant, read-only queries and reasoning about joins across large schemas.
- Hands-on experience delivering generative AI/LLM solutions, including RAG, tool orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails.
- Proven experience building and maintaining authenticated API integrations (REST and streaming/WebSocket).
- Experience building secure, auditable systems with versioning, access controls, and robust logging/monitoring.
- Data-engineering pragmatism for handling large files, normalization, fuzzy joins, and memory-conscious ETL.
- Experience building and testing production Python with modern CI/CD practices.
