As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within JPMorgan Chase's Chief Technology Office (CTO), you will be part of an agile team focused on enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products securely, stably, and scalably. This role offers a unique greenfield opportunity to address the growing challenge of Software Dependency Risk, especially as AI-assisted development accelerates the adoption of open-source and commercial packages. You will contribute to a firm-wide platform designed to provide visibility into the dependency health of thousands of applications for tens of thousands of developers, aiming to establish foundational infrastructure for managing software risk at scale.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and production support.
- Build and scale core platform capabilities, including data ingestion pipelines, dependency analysis services, and developer-facing product features.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to business and technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Write production-quality Java code for services, APIs, data pipelines, and supporting infrastructure on AWS.
- Utilize AI and agentic development tools to create secure, high-quality production code, and review/debug code written by others.
- Drive the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Establish measurable validation standards for AI outputs, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing.
- Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation, to improve value realization.
- Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
- Act as a subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
- Advocate for firm-wide frameworks, tools, and practices within the engineering community.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver features for engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of applied experience with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and ensuring the operational stability of data-intensive systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Java.
- Experience building core platform capabilities such as data ingestion pipelines, dependency analysis services, and developer-facing features.
- Demonstrated experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
- Experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant AI usage patterns and controls.
- Ability to independently solve design and functionality problems with minimal oversight.
- Practical cloud-native experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, RDS).
