About the job

As a Lead Software Engineer within JPMorganChase's Commercial and Investment Bank, Payments Technology, you will be a key technical contributor responsible for enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products. In this role, you will own major components of B2B agentic commerce agents end-to-end. This includes developing the multi-agent system for negotiating and onboarding corporate suppliers, as well as managing the production path for training, serving, and monitoring the ML models these agents utilize as tools. You will drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed, while ensuring the secure and stable operation of these advanced systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, thinking beyond conventional approaches.
  • Own the design and delivery of production agents, including their tools, memory, guardrails, and evaluations.
  • Build the production path for ML models, including training, automated testing, promotion, and serving as APIs.
  • Design agent workflows that separate deterministic decisions from LLM conversational and coordination tasks.
  • Develop and review secure, high-quality production code.
  • Establish evaluation and observability for agents and models, including regression suites and performance monitoring.
  • Prepare agents and models for model risk review, providing necessary documentation and test evidence.
  • Drive team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance code quality and delivery speed.
  • Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues for improved operational stability.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams on architectural designs and technical credentials.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced development experience in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in at least one additional language (e.g., TypeScript, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of concurrency and distributed computation, including failure modes.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM-based applications or agents to production, including tool calling and retrieval.
  • Hands-on experience productionizing ML models, including training pipelines, model registries, and CI/CD for models.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, micro-VM isolation, and sidecar patterns.
  • Hands-on experience applying security at multiple layers of the stack.
