As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will be an integral part of an agile team focused on enhancing, building, and delivering market-leading technology products securely, stably, and scalably. You will act as a core technical contributor, responsible for critical technology solutions across various business functions to support firm objectives. This role involves executing creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with a focus on thinking beyond conventional approaches. You will also drive the team's adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed, while establishing validation standards and promoting the reuse of effective patterns.
Responsibilities
- Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and review code written by others.
- Drive team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices for improved code quality and delivery speed.
- Apply knowledge of SDLC tools, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues.
- Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams for architectural designs and technical credentials.
- Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness of new technologies.
- Own end-to-end DevOps execution for the team's SDLC, including pipelines and release practices.
- Define and enforce comprehensive testing strategies across the stack.
- Lead design and implementation of Java-based microservices and back-end APIs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of applied experience in software engineering concepts.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of AI-assisted software development tools.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
- Strong hands-on experience building and supporting Java services and APIs.
- Familiarity with observability stacks for performance tuning, debugging, and production support.
- Practical experience with data and messaging platforms such as Cassandra and Kafka.
- Proven experience delivering and operating applications in Private Cloud (GAIA) and/or AWS hosting.
