This role is responsible for driving the adoption and governance of AI across the enterprise, combining strategic oversight with transformation leadership to enable innovation while maintaining strong controls. The AI Governance Director will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive AI governance frameworks to ensure the ethical, responsible, and compliant use of AI technologies. This involves partnering with senior stakeholders to align governance practices with business and regulatory priorities, influencing strategic decisions, and operational plans. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges like bias detection and explainability in AI models, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, and safeguarding the organization's reputation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce AI governance frameworks and policies.
- Lead the identification and mitigation of risks associated with AI/ML models.
- Oversee the validation and monitoring of AI/ML models for accuracy, fairness, and compliance.
- Drive strategic initiatives to integrate AI governance tools and automate compliance processes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align AI governance strategies with business objectives.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries and surveys with evidence-backed submissions.
- Drive updates to the AI governance framework and operating model.
- Maintain a complete view of the AI portfolio and drive consistent governance.
- Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, surveys, and questionnaires.
- Shape governance requirements for evolving AI capabilities like agentic systems.
- Participate in regulatory impact assessments for new rules and guidance.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in AI/Model Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance, Legal/Reg advisory, Technology Risk, Controls, or regulated product governance.
- Understanding of the AI/GenAI delivery lifecycle.
- Deep understanding of AI build and strong technical knowledge, particularly related to agentic capabilities and data science.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional regulatory responses.
- Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions and translating regulatory expectations into practical controls.
- Expertise in AI governance, focusing on developing and implementing frameworks and policies.
- Advanced proficiency in model risk management.
- Expert-level skills in ensuring AI/ML model compliance with regulatory standards.
- Advanced experience in deploying and managing AI/ML models on cloud platforms, with a strong understanding of API integration and automation processes.
