Indicium AI is seeking Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineers to build and deploy production agentic AI systems for enterprise clients. You will be embedded in client teams, tackling complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality AI solutions. This role involves working with multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and ensuring the reliability and observability of non-deterministic systems in regulated environments. You will also communicate technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, building credibility and trust.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship production-quality agentic AI systems end-to-end, including agent orchestration, tool-use patterns, RAG, and reliability layers.
- Design and implement evaluation frameworks and observability for non-deterministic systems.
- Improve build quality through testing, output validation, and automation.
- Earn the trust of client-side technical leaders by delivering complex solutions and communicating honestly.
- Stay current with the AI field and share learnings with the team.
- Explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-engineers and manage expectations.
- Contribute to improving team processes and output.
- Develop reusable assets and knowledge from client work to accelerate future engagements.
Requirements
- Experience building and deploying agentic AI systems into production, beyond POCs or personal projects.
- Experience with multi-step LLM workflows, including tool use and multi-agent orchestration, using frameworks like Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, Strands, or CrewAI.
- Experience implementing RAG or retrieval architectures, including embedding strategies, chunking, hybrid search, reranking, and vector/graph stores.
- Proficiency in writing production-grade code, preferably in Python, and reviewing code to a high standard.
- Experience evaluating LLM systems in enterprise settings.
- Comfort with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience shipping to production environments with enterprise constraints.
- Experience working with clients or external stakeholders and holding technical conversations with non-engineers.
- Ability to take ownership in ambiguous situations, make decisions, communicate them, and deliver results.
