About the job
Indicium AI is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to embed directly with client engineering teams and transform how they build software using AI. You will identify unarticulated problems and ship changes that make AI-native engineering a reality in their daily workflows and production pipelines. This role is for an experienced software engineer passionate about AI's impact on software engineering, helping organizations redesign their capabilities from tooling to team structure. You will lead engagements at complex organizations, co-engineer with client teams to integrate new ways of working, and own the senior technical relationship with engineering leaders.
Responsibilities
- Lead engagements transforming enterprise engineering organizations' software building processes.
- Design and implement AI-native development workflows across the SDLC.
- Define and roll out operating models for AI-native engineering, including tooling, process, and team structure.
- Co-engineer with client product engineering teams to integrate new ways of working into existing codebases.
- Own the client technical relationship at senior engineering leadership level.
- Navigate organizational complexity, including procurement, security, and stakeholder management.
- Identify and shape new opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Codify repeatable patterns and playbooks for AI-native engineering transformation.
- Mentor engineers on engagements and share knowledge to raise the practice's standard.
- Work alongside Anthropic field teams on joint client engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong production experience.
- Deep passion for AI's transformation of software engineering, with experience using AI development tools.
- Experience in a client-facing technical role (e.g., forward deployed engineering, technical consulting).
- Strong proficiency in modern software engineering stacks and cloud platforms.
- Experience driving engineering process change or transformation within organizations.
- Genuine enterprise experience navigating large engineering organizations.
- High agency and ability to deliver in ambiguous situations.
- Vertical depth in Financial Services, Energy, or Healthcare.
