Indicium AI is a leading partner for deploying advanced AI solutions, particularly with Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI models, for enterprise clients. We are seeking a technical leader to head our Forward Deployed AI Engineering practice in EMEA. This player-coach role involves leading a team that embeds with strategic clients to deliver production AI systems, solve complex business problems, and shape the future of our AI engineering practice. You will be responsible for setting technical standards, developing scalable patterns, managing client engagements, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence, while staying hands-on with technical delivery and architecture.
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing team of Forward Deployed AI Engineers.
- Own the technical and operational bar for AI engineering engagements, including reviewing SOWs and shaping architecture.
- Build scalable playbooks and repeatable patterns for long-term customer engagements.
- Manage hands-on technical delivery in enterprise environments, bridging strategic conversations and technical debugging.
- Develop vertical fluency in key industries like Financial Services, Energy, and Healthcare.
- Partner with Sales to shape pipeline, scope engagements, and identify expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with partner teams (e.g., Anthropic) on joint engagements.
- Provide technical mentorship and invest in team members' career growth.
- Drive knowledge sharing and raise the practice's bar through codified patterns and training.
Requirements
- 8+ years in technical roles, with at least 3 years leading engineering or delivery teams (e.g., forward deployed engineering, technical consulting, applied AI, solutions architecture).
- Production experience building AI applications, including agentic systems, multi-agent orchestration, advanced RAG, and evaluation frameworks.
- Proven track record of building and retaining strong engineering teams from an early stage.
- Experience working directly with enterprise clients on technical implementations, navigating complex organizational dynamics and stakeholders.
- Executive presence with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong Python proficiency and comfort with production code.
- Vertical depth in at least one of Financial Services, Energy, or Healthcare.
- High agency and comfort with ambiguity, with experience building initiatives from scratch.
