IMC Trading is seeking a versatile Systems Engineer to build and operate the infrastructure behind the company's AI-powered engineering initiative. This role focuses on integrating AI SaaS offerings, managing containerization and virtualization layers for AI agents, and enhancing the security of agents and internal services. The Development Platform organization aims to accelerate tech team workflows by providing self-service tools and services, establishing a consistent technical foundation, and empowering teams to innovate efficiently. As AI adoption grows, the need for robust, secure, and observable infrastructure becomes paramount. The successful candidate will be a local point of contact in Sydney for global AI platform and infrastructure teams, collaborating closely with them and supporting development teams.
Responsibilities
- Integrate, deploy, and operate AI SaaS offerings and self-hosted AI services.
- Design and maintain containerization and virtualization environments for AI agents and supporting services.
- Drive security hardening for AI agents and internal services, including secrets management, access controls, and auditability.
- Write and maintain code to extend, integrate, and automate supported services.
- Build telemetry, monitoring, and evaluation infrastructure for AI-driven workflows.
- Partner with development teams to align platform capabilities with their AI workflows.
- Act as the regional point of contact for global AI platform and infrastructure collaboration.
- Diagnose and resolve system incidents, collaborating with regional peers in a 'follow the sun' model.
Requirements
- 3+ years of work experience in a relevant role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Strong programming experience in Python or Go; Shell scripting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix Systems.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and virtualization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience integrating and operating third-party SaaS solutions on-premises and leveraging AWS cloud services.
- Understanding of security principles and best practices.
- Experience designing disaster recovery plans, high availability (HA) configurations, and failover strategies.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or TeamCity.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn about AI/LLM application patterns; exposure to agentic AI tools or model-serving/evaluation infrastructure is a plus.
