We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our growing India team and help build our Reinforcement Learning Environments (RLE) platform. This platform consists of interactive systems where frontier AI models learn to complete real-world tasks across various domains like software engineering, finance, and legal research. The interaction data generated is crucial for training and evaluating leading AI models. In this role, you will collaborate closely with US-based Engineering, Research, Product, and Operations teams to develop the next generation of AI platforms. You will own significant technical projects, contribute to platform architecture, and build reliable systems that enable rapid development and evaluation of AI models.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale the Reinforcement Learning Environments (RLE) platform and its supporting infrastructure.
- Collaborate with US-based Engineering, Research, Product, and Operations teams to execute a shared roadmap.
- Design and implement scalable backend services and data generation pipelines.
- Build modular environment domains that integrate with model training and evaluation workflows.
- Enhance platform reliability, observability, performance, and developer productivity.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and improve engineering standards.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems, distributed systems, or platform infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern backend architectures.
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, distributed systems, and system design.
- Experience building and operating production systems on AWS or GCP.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams, including US-based teams.
