Goodfire is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the technical lead for customer engagements, integrating our AI interpretability platform into partner environments. This hands-on role involves writing production code, building integrations, running pilots, and owning technical delivery. You will work directly with customer engineering and research teams, translating frontier research into deployed reality across various domains like Life Sciences, Robotics, and Language models. This position requires strong engineering skills, rapid learning ability, creative problem-solving under real-world constraints, and comfort operating alongside client technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Own technical delivery for partner engagements, building production-grade integrations of Goodfire's platform into customer environments.
- Design and execute pilots to quickly demonstrate platform value.
- Serve as the day-to-day technical point of contact for partner engineering teams, understanding their codebase and infrastructure.
- Bring field insights back to the platform and research teams to identify patterns and build scalable tooling.
- Adapt novel interpretability methods from research into reliable, production-ready solutions within partner stacks.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills with production experience in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX).
- Ability to bridge research and engineering, understanding new techniques and shipping them.
- Scrappiness, willingness to persist in ambiguity, and ability to learn quickly.
- Generalist 'can-do' mindset.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Technical degree or equivalent professional experience in AI, ML, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in a forward-deployed, solutions, or customer-facing engineering role (preferred).
- Experience with large language models, including fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, or agent development (preferred).
- Familiarity with interpretability, mechanistic interpretability, or model internals (preferred).
