The Evaluation Foundations team is seeking a Senior Engineer to develop and improve high-performance tools for evaluating autonomous vehicle models. This role involves working across the technology stack to design, implement, and iterate on evaluation and introspection tools. You will contribute to a system that measures and visualizes AV model performance, helping to shorten the experimental path towards optimal models and enabling teams to understand model behavior more effectively. The work directly influences the safety, reliability, and scalability of next-generation autonomous systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve evaluation signal and introspection tools to accelerate model development.
- Develop and maintain visualization and metrics presentation for model evaluation.
- Assist teams in understanding model behavior and identifying actionable next steps.
- Participate in design and code reviews, collaborating with Data, Infra, and validation teams.
- Design and implement evaluation workflows at scale, incorporating model-based metrics and end-to-end simulation.
- Connect evaluation signals back to data, training, and launch decisions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Familiarity with backend technologies such as Python, node.js, and high-throughput data streaming.
- Experience with frontend technologies like React/TypeScript, WebGL/WebGPU, Streamlit, or Jupyter notebooks.
- Knowledge of data/infra tools including Spark for stream processing, BigQuery, and Kubernetes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
