The Production Mapping organization at General Motors is responsible for developing mapping solutions to support Autonomous Vehicle (AV) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, including Super Cruise. In this role, you will contribute to solving complex mapping challenges using machine learning, advanced algorithms, large-scale data processing, and cloud computing. You will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, from exploring vehicle data and developing models to building scalable data workflows, deploying solutions, and evaluating their performance. Areas of focus include machine learning, geospatial analytics, distributed data processing, workflow automation, and cloud-based software development.
Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and optimize models and algorithms using cloud-based compute environments.
- Develop scripts to manage data workflows using Python or PySpark.
- Analyze large datasets to discover trends and patterns.
- Present complex information using data visualization techniques.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Complete training, learning, and skills development.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking PhD program in computer science or a related field.
- Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Python software skills and experience with ML libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience working with cloud environments and data platforms like Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Demonstrable fundamentals in statistical modeling and machine learning frameworks and tools.
